SAFe Core Values
The SAFe Core Values help align mindset and behavior for everyone in a SAFe portfolio. The Core Values are foundational to SAFe. It is important for everyone involved in a SAFe portfolio to understand what they mean and how they manifest.
The Power of Values
Challenges abound in our organizations, both internally and externally. Digital disruption has changed every part of our lives and makes it much harder to identify the best ways to act and behave in new situations. You likely already have values that help you make the best decisions
Alignment Empowers People
Alignment keeps us all headed in the same direction. We must be in constant alignment to keep pace with fast change, disruptive competitive forces, and geographically distributed teams. It isn’t just a ‘nice to have,’ it’s a must-have for us to compete and thrive in the digital age. Alignment enables empowerment, autonomy, and decentralized decision-making, allowing those who implement value to make better local decisions. The more alignment you have, the more empowerment you enable.
Ensuring a quality product, process, or service does not mean reviewing a completed offering just before delivery. The costs for fixing issues increase dramatically the longer they exist. Instead, we must identify and implement quality standards throughout the development process. This can be achieved through five primary dimensions.
Transparency Enables Trust
When we work transparently, we know why we are doing what we’re doing and how our work impacts other teams and products. When issues arise, we vocalize the issues and work together to resolve them.
Transparency and trust go hand-in-hand. When we are transparent in our work, our organization knows it can rely on us to act with integrity. When our leaders are transparent in the vision and direction of the company, as well as when the company is facing issues, our trust in the organization builds.
Program Execution Is Delivering Value
Each day brings increasingly complex customer challenges, necessitating increasingly complex solutions. No team, or even team of teams, alone can create successful offerings and be responsive to change in today’s environment of digital disruption.
Program execution is teams, teams of teams, systems, and services working together to address these complex challenges to deliver customer value
